Can you feel it?

Of course I could feel it, I was ten foot away from the bass bins, Freq Nasty was agitating the atoms all around us with bass frequencies lower than a Bush policy, and the very seams of my jeans were vibrating against my legs in time with the wobble.

Wasn't what she meant tho. Closed my eyes. Everything but the sound, gone. Try it some time, a dj spinning tunes in a club always feels different from listening to those same tunes at home.

Nothing to do with the volume either, its the atmosphere. The sum of the whole, Music and People, together.

We had got there fairly on in the night, to catch a friend playing warm up. Most arriving with us had that same look of anticipation, excitement of what was to come, and most, headed straight to the bar to order drinks. To set their mood. Bars can be awkward places early on in the night, with people waiting patiently for the bartender to get to their turn to take an order, shoulders touching other patrons, you would think that it would be a hot bed of conversation, which it is, but not yet. That happens after....

Our friend was warming the place up, a sweet mix of bass heavy artists, gradually building in intensity. About half an hour in, I heard the click of the air conditioner kick in. I was standing directly underneath it.

People were starting to dance, those that had prepped earlier coming through the door and straight to the dance floor, others just starting to "feel it" and getting their groove on, as more joined, in what is perhaps our oldest form of group therapy, our friend spinning the tunes seemed to change, from being separate, to being a part of the whole. A two way form of communication without words.

By this stage my own feet were tapping of their own accord, and I could feel my whole being warming up. Wonder if that's why they call it a warm up set?

Freq Nasty came on before too long, laying down the afore mentioned space fabric tearing frequencies as is his want.

She said "Can you feel it?"

Yeah I could feel it, the music bring us together, warming us up, our bodies being taken by this invisible force called music, moving us in time together, smiles at each other just from a glance, a feeling of togetherness. Even the people at the bar were being friendly to each other!

I said nothing. Took my jacket off and started dancing, and with a smile and a nod, so did she.
